Create a legacy of giving for fair and equitable tax policy.

We all have a vested interest in sustainable tax policies. Create a legacy of giving for equitable tax policy and remember the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy in your will or trust. Since 1980, ITEP has provided policymakers, advocates and the public with important research and analysis regarding state and federal tax policy. Your support ensures ITEP can continue in our fight for fair and adequate taxes at the state and federal levels.

For 40 years, the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy has advanced tax policies that would reduce inequality and support investments that expand opportunity for all. Its work has never been more important. That’s why I’ve made a legacy gift to ITEP.

— Joan Entmacher, ITEP Board Chair

When you leave a gift to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP), you’re supporting work to move the nation toward more progressive federal and state tax policies that raise enough revenue to fund our common priorities.

Make a gift in your will or trust.

ITEP works with you and your professional advisor to choose the planned giving option that best works for you and your family.

  • All gifts make a difference, no matter the size.
  • Make a gift for a set amount or a percentage that adjusts no matter what the future may bring. You can change the amount or beneficiaries at any time.
  • Ensure your gift is made only after you’ve taken care of your family first.

Sample language

“I [name], of [city, state ZIP], give to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, a 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the District of Columbia, with a current business address of 1616 P Street NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC, 20036, and a tax identification number of 04-2688165, ([ ___ percent] of my residuary estate or [the sum of $____]) for its general purposes.”

Progressive taxes are the bedrock of health economies and societies. Yet there are always politicians who think they can get short-term gains by ignoring this reality. This is a struggle that goes on (almost) forever. ITEP stands firmly on the side of tax fairness, and that’s why I support them through joining the Legacy Society.
