Being poor in South Dakota is harder than in most other states in the U.S..

A recent study by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy found that South Dakota’s tax structure, along with other factors, make it one of the most difficult states to live in for low-income families.

The city of Sioux Falls often tops national lists of growing cities with great economies. Just last week, it was rated as one of the top five cities to find a job. But there are some areas that are lacking.

One of those is the high price of being poor.
