The Albany Times Union: Bad But Could Be Worse

New York is regularly ranked as one of the worst states in the nation for taxes.

But a new study by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy found that New York’s tax policies are actually some of the best for average people.

That’s because some tax structures grab a larger percentage of take-home pay of middle- and lower-income residents than the more wealthy.

ITEP found that New York is in the top 10 for tax policy fairness. Florida, Pennsylvania and Texas were at the top of the list for tax inequality.
