“Unauthorized immigrants pay almost $12 billion a year in state and local taxes, according to a recent study by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy. Between 70 and 75 percent of immigrants who are in the country illegally pay Social Security taxes, although they cannot collect Social Security.”
