The federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) gives many of these families the boost they need to be more financially secure. Mississippi can also enact a refundable state EITC to leverage the federal credit’s track record of encouraging work, reducing taxes, improving children’s lives, and strengthening local businesses and economies.
