“According to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, Connecticut’s top 1 percent (making more than $1.33 million a year) saw just 5.3 percent of their incomes go to taxes in 2015 (income, and sales). Conversely, the bottom 20 percent (making less than $25,000 a year) paid nearly twice that. Meanwhile, 40 percent paid a combined 21 percent of their incomes on taxes.”
