“YOUR CYBER MONDAY TAX UPDATE: Carl Davis of the left-leaning Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy notes that this year will be the first holiday season that Amazon — in the midst of a massive national expansion of its distribution network — collects sales tax in a majority of states. In fact, ITEP notes that “as recently as 2011, Amazon collected sales tax from its customers in just five states: Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, and its home state of Washington. With the Oct. 1 addition of Michigan to its tax collection list, that number now stands at 26 states — home to 81 percent of the country’s population.””
