“In response, the Oklahoma Policy Institute commissioned an analysis by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy. That report found that under a 1-cent sales tax increase, people in the lowest quintile (those with an average household income of $12,700 per year) would pay an additional $90 annually. Oklahomans in the top 1 percent (those with average yearly income of $1.6 million) would pay an additional $1,691 in sales taxes.”
