media mentionAccording to the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, between 50 and 75 percent of the estimated 8 million undocumented workers in the country pay annual federal income taxes using an ITIN. Unauthorized workers are more likely to work in low-wage but essential jobs in the pandemic such as janitors, food delivery drivers and shoppers, and jobs in meatpacking plants. They are also among the most uninsured groups.
